Weary Thoughts from the Yucatán

After spending a few weeks in the Yucatán, I decided to make a list of the imagery and quotes I loved the most. Learning about Mayan history was refreshing and provided me with the warmth of Mexican culture.

  • The morning glories illuminate under the dreariness of the evening skies.

  • “I see a loving relationship.” - about strangled trees

  • Yellow butterflies dance around the trees corpses.

  • The castle stood high on the dead grounds it created.

  • Lycan contributes to the deterioration of stone.

  • Abandonment can sometimes be the toughest choice to make in order to survive.

  • “People change because the environment around them changes.” - peer

  • “Be comfortable with the idea of absence.” - peer

  • When holding your chest and pointing at a piece of art, you can tell how much energy it has based on if you can lower your hand or not.

  • “If it wasn’t for the library, I would starve to death.”

  • The cathedral loomed over the comfortable city with scrutinizing eyes.

  • Mayans kill other Mayans for power. That sounds familiar.
